Riley has always been one to say the funniest things. Here in our house, we call them 'Riley-isms'.
This is Riley-ism #133:
Yesterday, she asked Ryan for something that started with the letter "U" to bring to show-and-tell on Friday at school. Ryan suggested a few of the obvious "U" items, to which Riley responded that she didn't want to bring it or wasn't allowed to bring it. Ryan then said, "This weekend, I'll get you a dictionary and you can look up other things that start with a "U." She was very excited about that and the conversation was over.
Fast forward to today, she says to me, "Momma, I need to get a dictionary for Friday for show-and-tell." I said to her that daddy would buy her one this weekend and she said she needed it for Friday because she has to bring something that starts with a "U." And then here is where it all goes downhill:
Me: Riley, dictionary doesn't start with "U" -- it starts with a "D."
Riley: "No, momma, uh-dictionary starts with a "U."
Me: It's not 'uh-dictionary" it's A dictionary.
Ryan and I realized that she wasn't the one that was wrong, it's us! We kept saying "a dictionary" (which sounded like 'uh') and that's what she heard. Smart cookie. But she's still not bringing UH DICTIONARY to school. How about a unicorn instead?

darn kids - they are so literal! What a funny story! That's one to write down for her future (although I guess by blogging you did write it down - way to go!).
